I could not believe it when I found this "figured" Purple Heart wood. Really didn't think it existed, but it must. A beautiful and exotic wood without figuring, but this is amazing. Purple Heart is an extremely dense and heavy wood, and very difficult to work. It is ranked one of the hardest and stiffest of the woods in the world. Peltogyne commonly known as Purple Heart. Native to tropical regions of Central and South America, where they occur in tropical rainforest's. Purple heart comes from the rainforest's of Brazil, Guyana, and Suriname. This jewelry box has Brusso hinges, and our 12 coats of acrylic lacquer sanded and buffed to the highest quality finish.
